"Together We Stay Strong" PANAW 2022/Letter from RMPANA President

Posted about 3 years ago by Marta Clements

Happy Perianesthesia Nurses Awareness Week! This week is about celebrating our unique speciality:

Nurses working in preanesthesia and postanesthesia care, ambulatory surgery, and pain management are dedicated to caring for patients and their families. They are passionate about what they do as nurses. PANAW is an opportunity to educate nursing colleagues and the community about the professionalism and passionate care that is delivered by perianesthesia nurses every day. Plan to celebrate our practice and recognize your colleagues during PANAW 2022! (https://www.aspan.org/Education-Events/PANAW)

This year's PANAW theme is "Together we stay strong." What are you doing in your departments to stay strong as a team? The past couple of years have been challenging. Our department has been extremely flexible as we've worked together to manage staffing challenges and department closures due to Covid and the Marshall Fire. We are caring for patients who have more anxiety before their procedures, limiting patient support related to hospital visitation policies, and caring for each other as we continue to show up. Thank you for continuing to show up on your units, for your colleagues, and for the patients.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve you and RMPANA.

Marta Clements, BSN, RN, CPAN
RMPANA President
